Pigeons force band to cancel gig

30/Jul/2010

An infestation of pigeons forced rock band Kings of Leon to end a concert early at the Verizon Amphitheater in Missouri.

The pigeons defecated on members of the band as they played at St Louis, making it difficult for them to continue.

The rockers finally abandoned the gig after three songs when bass guitarist Jared Followill was hit in the cheek and mouth by bird droppings.

Kings of Leon's manager Andy Mendelsohn said: "Jared was hit several times during the first two songs.

"On the third song, when he was hit in the cheek and some of it landed near his mouth, they couldn't deal any longer. It's not only disgusting, it's a toxic health hazard. They really tried to hang in there.

"We want to apologise to our fans in St Louis and will come back as soon as we can."
