Skymark invests £10m at Scunthorpe

10/Mar/2010

Skymark has invested £10 million on new equipment at its Scunthorpe site, aiming to double its turnover by 2012 .

The company is also planning to make up for the losses suffered last year after its facility at Leominster, Herefordshire, was brought down by a major fire.

As part of the investment the firm, which has created 70 jobs at the site, installed a 1,300mm Fisher & Krecke 16s with Smart GPS in late 2009.

Skymark plans to install a 1,650mm Uteco Emerald 810 this week and another Fisher & Krecke 1,500mm 14s with Smart GPS in May.

The packaging printer will invest the rest of the money on further expansion of the site and a Combi 3000 laminator.

Dan Richards, sales development manager at Skymark, said that he hopes that the investment would aid double the company's estimated turnover of £32 million in 2010 by 2012.

He added: "Customers are demanding more and more printed films, which is why we have invested in wider presses. It is a trend we see and we want to invest early and expand the versatility in what we do."
